RITES HELD FOR C. DORENKAMP

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Cortland G. Dorenkamp, 29, 531 10th Ave. N., were held Thursday afternoon at the Wilcox Funeral Home. Mr. Dorenkamp was killed in a train-truck crash early Monday near Burchinal.

Marvin DeLozier, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated at the service. Mrs. Harry Mason, organist accompanied Mrs. Nels Lekwa and Dale Erickson, pastor of the Church of Christ, Mason City, who each sang a solo.

Driver-salesmen and other personnel of the Clear Lake Bakery where he was employed and their families attended the services in a group.

Pallbearers were Milford Hegg, John and Jess Schwichtenberg, Dorance Bach, Dwight Harrison and Lawrence Schaer. Mrs. Bach and Mrs. Irvin McGowan were in charge of the flowers. The car escort was provided by Dwayne Van Oort. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Dorenkamp are his wife, the former Betty Brower of Clear Lake; three sons, Larry, Tommy and Richard; two daughters, Georgene and Marlene; his mother, Mrs. Hauko Barkema, Garner; two brothers, Herman and Theodore, Detroit; and one sister, Mrs. Holm (Arlene) Swenson, Detroit.

Transcriber’s Note – Cortland G. Dorenkamp was born February 18, 1927, died June 25, 1956 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section D Row 2. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
