FUNERAL SERVICES OF MARION DUNCAN

The funeral services of the late Marion Duncan were held Sunday afternoon from the home of her sister, Mrs. W. C. Tompkins. The Rev. Stafford of the First Methodist church conducted them, and it was a most beautiful service. Hosts of friends and dear ones, paid their last tribute by their presence and the abundance of floral contributions and beautiful floral pieces. There amid those beautiful flowers was one who had been dear to hundreds of children, dearer to many friends and most beloved to her family. In tribute to this dear one, Judge Sherwin, a most intimate friend of the family read a most touching story of her life.

Miss Letty Keerl then played softly on the piano the strains of “Nearer My God to thee.” There were large numbers of teachers and others from Mason City who attended the services, and the home and the yard were filled to overflowing with those who had enjoyed the friendship and acquaintance of Miss Duncan during her life.

The last remains were laid at rest in the Clear Lake Cemetery. A dearly beloved soul had departed; the home and friends are bereaved but Heaven is made richer by her return.

Transcriber’s Note – Marion Duncan was born December 14, 1850 and died June 10, 1915.
