EDWARD I. MILES RITES ARE SATURDAY

CLEAR LAKE -- Edward Miles, 82, Route 1, a longtime Clear Lake farmer, died Tuesday afternoon in a nursing home in New Port Richey, Fla., where he had been about two weeks.

Mr. Miles and May Overland, his housekeeper for 25 years, went to Florida in November.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home with William Seeley, Minneapolis, Clear Lake Church of Christ pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Edward Isaac Miles was born Jan. 29, 1887, on a farm south of Clear Lake, the son of Levi and Helen (Wilhelm) Miles. He attended rural school and Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls. He was married June 17, 1910, to Millie Seeger at Clear Lake. They farmed south of Clear Lake following their marriage. Mrs. Miles later died and he continued to farm until his retirement in 1952. He still lived on the farm and spent the winters in Florida.

Mr. Miles is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Esther) McClary, Clear Lake, and one grandson, Norman McClary, Clear Lake. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Hattie Borton, and three brothers, John, Frank and Ernest Miles.

Pallbearers selected include Miles Borton, Maurice Miles, William Miles, Edward Winkelman, Benny Smith, John Swichtenberg, Nels Lekwa and Walter Matzen.

Mrs. Harry Mason will be the organist and Mrs. Larry Lekwa, the soloist.
