MAUDE EDDY MILES

Maude Eddy Miles was born Sept. 2, 1892 at Clear Lake to Charles and Flora Billings Eddy.

She attended the rural schools south of Clear Lake and Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls and later taught in rural schools.

In 1917 she was married to Frank Miles in Rollo, Ill., and they farmed on the Miles family farm. In 1948 they retired and moved to Clear Lake.

Mr. Miles preceded her in death in 1968 and she lived alone until she passed away Sept. 18.

Mrs. Miles was an active member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Hugh (Madelyn) Myers, Arcadia, Calif.; Mrs. James (Betty) Carson, Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Nelson (Joan) Wild, San Francisco, Calif. Three sons also survive: Robert of Huntington Beach, Calif.; William of Clear Lake; Stanley Miles of Brookfield, Wisc. A sister, Mrs. Ray (Grace) Kreps of Riverton, Wy., and two brothers, Gene Eddy of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Arleigh Eddy of Clear Lake also survive as well as seventeen grandchildren.

Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Services were held Sept. 22 with Reverend Eldon Jandebeur presiding. Mrs. Holms Pedelty was organist and Mrs. Dale Becker, soloist. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jennings Pahus, Robert Callanan, Dwight Williamson, Jim Anderson, William Price and Glenn Westover.
