SHIRLEY MILLARD

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Shirley Millard, 58, 2305 N. Shore Dr., died Monday (March 24, 1986) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christian Church, Highway 18 West, Clear Lake. The Rev. Daniel Krumrei will officiate, with graveside services at 2:30 p.m. in the Hampton cemetery.

Mrs. Millard was born March 23, 1928, at Hampton to Carrol and Anna (Leimbacher) Givens.

She graduated from Hampton High School in 1945 and following graduation worked in Washington, D.C., for the Army Quartermaster and the FBI.

On June 6, 1947, she married De Forest Millard at Coulter. They moved to Clear Lake in 1962. She worked at A.C. Nielsen in Mason City, then the Fashion Shop in Clear Lake. Later she owned and operated the Peacock Shop in Clear Lake.

Mrs. Millard was active in the Clear Lake Chamber and served on the board of directors. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was named Boss of the Year in 1978 by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Visitation will be after 6 tonight at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Memorials may be given to the Shirley Millard Memorial Fund.

Survivors include her husband, De Forest; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Michele) Eaton, Des Moines; a son, Ron, Bondurant; a sister, Barbara Givens, Anadale, Va.; a brother, Raymond Givens, Runnels, and four grandchildren.
