GOLDIE MITCHELL

Mrs. Charles (Goldie) Mitchell, 78, died Wednesday afternoon at a Clear Lake nursing home where she had been for the last three months. She had lived at 1100 1st Ave. S.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcox-Osthus Chapel with the Rev. Worthie Usher, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Goldie May Mitchell was born May 16, 1893, at Goshen, Ind., the daughter of George and Frances (Hall) Howard. She was educated in the Fort Wayne, Ind. schools.

She was married Sept. 2, 1013 to Charles L. Mitchell in Illinois. They moved to Iowa in 1917 and farmed north of Clear Lake until they moved into town six years ago.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by one son, Howard, Forest City; three daughters, Mrs. John (Esther) Beal, Mason City; Mrs. Lynn (Ruth) Farrow, Adel; Mrs. Elmer (Kathryn) Hanson, North Bend, Ore.; 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Kenneth, one sister and one brother.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Do Your Bit Club.

Pallbearers selected included Russell Farrow, Lynn L. Farrow, Larry Beal, Charles Mitchell, Forrest Hofbauer and Branden Richardson.

Mrs. Loren Sadler sang “Rock of Ages” and “In the Garden” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Mason at the organ.
