VINCENT N. MINETTE

Vincent N. Minette, 72, of 401 No. 3rd St., Clear Lake, manager of Witke’s Restaurant in Clear Lake for 24 years, died Tuesday (May 29, 1984) at home.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. James Duster officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the Vincent N. Minette Memorial Fund.

Mr. Minette was born June 10, 1911 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Frank L. and Rose (Schaefer) Minette. He was a graduate of Clear Lake High School and Mason City Junior College and the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He served in the Navy during World War II and married Marnis Hatch on Nov. 4, 1937 in Clear Lake. He had lived in Clear Lake most of his life and was a past director of the Iowa Restaurant Association. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, VFW, Noon Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and a life-time member of the Fire Department in Clear Lake. Mr. Minette also was an honorary fire chief.

Survivors include his wife, Marnis; two sons, Michael Dennis Minette and Richard Paul Minette, both of Clear Lake; six grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Oreta Jacobson, Mason City.

Honorary pallbearers were Keith Crawford, Dr. James Lannon, Harold Mersereau, Richard Gowdy, John R. Winnie, Peter O. Petersen. Pallbearers were James C. Merwin, Robert Halford, Dean Gilles, Lester Davis, Merle Arends, and Patrick Breheny.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Austin, and one grandchild, Nancy Louise.
