SERVICES FOR MONAGHEN AT ST. PATRICK’S

CLEAR LAKE – Requiem high Mass will be celebrated Friday morning at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for R. A. Monaghen, 54, who died suddenly following a heart attack Tuesday evening at his home, 508 1st Ave. N. The Rev. J. J. Buzynski, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Ward’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 8 by the parish, at 8:30 by the Catholic Daughters of America, and at 9 p.m. by Holy Name Society.

Mr. Monaghen was born Oct 4, 1900, at Goodell, son of Margaret Conlan and Thomas Monaghen. With his parents, he moved to Clear Lake in 1912 and was graduated from Clear Lake High School. He was married Feb. 22, 1922, to Miss Faith Culver at Algona.

In 1953 he retired from the post office where he had worked since 1929. At the time of his death he was employed by Birum-Olson Co., Mason City. He was a veteran of World War I, having served with the cavalry. A life-long member of Stafford Post 222, American Legion, he was this month elected chef de gare of 40 and 8, Volture 584.

Besides his wife, Mr. Monaghen is survived by four sons: Darwin, Sweetwater, Tex.; Conlon, Glenview, Ill., and Cleve and John, Clear Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Budy (Louise) Anderson, Mason City, and Mrs. LeRoy (Margaret) Draves, Clear Lake; a number of grandchildren; a brother, Frank Monaghen, Eldora, and two sisters, Mrs. Barney Sweeney, Mason City, and Mrs. Ray H. Nichols, Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Alan.

Transcriber’s Note – Raymond A. Monaghen was born October 4, 1900. Headstone in cemetery indicates he was born October 2, 1899 and died August 9, 1955.
