BRENDA SUE MONSON

Brenda Sue Monson, 13, of Clear Lake, died Monday at home following more than three years of treatment for an inoperable brain tumor.

Services were held Friday, March 13, 1992 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dean Hess, the Rev. Kermit Roisen and the Rev. David Burling officiating. Interment was held in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

Visitation was after 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Brenda Monson Memorial Fund.

She was born June 25, 1978 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Ronald and Grace (Harms) Monson.

She was a student in the 8th grade class in the Clear Lake school system. Due to her illness this year she had joined the 7th grade class.

She was diagnosed with cancer in September 1988. However, she remained hopeful and was an inspiration to the many people from the community who supported her and her family throughout her illness.

She enjoyed playing softball in the Clear Lake Little League, roller skating, swimming and dancing. She loved parties, collecting stuffed animals and her dog, Rudy.

She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

She is survived by her father, Ronald Monson, Clear lake; a sister, Julie Monson; three brothers, Kevin David and Bobby, all of Clear Lake; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Reno Harms, Garner, Iowa; two nephews and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Monson, in 1986 and also her paternal grandparents.

Honorary pallbearers were Pat Irwin, Shari Michel, Gloria Billings, Linda Coltvet, Ila Wieck, Darla Rosenberg, Lynne Scribbens, Judy Lee, Jackie Fieseler and Denise Cole.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Knapp, David Monson, Rich Hansen, Bobby Monson, Kevin Monson and Derek DeBell.
