SATURDAY RITES FOR A. MCGUIRE

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for Arthur D. McGuire, 65, Route 1, who died March 6, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The Rev. Michael Tan Creti officiated with burial in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur D. McGuire was born Feb. 26, 1903, at Fairifeld, the son of Clyde and Alma Raines McGuire. He attended school at Salem and was graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. He did carpenter work in the Mount Pleasant area and later was head carpenter at the state hospital in Cherokee from 1938 to 1942.

He was married to Doris Huey on Aug. 15, 1939, at Storm Lake. They came to Clear Lake in 1942 and purchased the Roy Huey Boat Livery. They operated it as Bayside Boat Livery until they sold it in 1955. During the winter he did carpenter work for Walsh Construction Co. in Clear Lake and in Florida.

Mr. McGuire was with the Clear Lake sanitary sewer district from 1958 until his retirement in 1967. They managed a resort at Harpers Ferry in the summer of 1967.

Pallbearers were Amil Herker, Jr., Frank Mullan, Charles E. Strickland, James Garrett, L. M. Treloar, Arnold Dutcher, Burt Dowden and Ed Wood. Roger Ritter was car escort. Organist was Mrs. Warren Clark.

Transcriber’s Note – Arthur D. McGuire was born February 26, 1903 and died March 1968.
