Doris Pauline Barlow, 100, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery.Family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa and the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Doris was born March 25, 1915, the daughter of Fred Louis and Charlotte Mae (Rushton) Bussa in Manson, Iowa. She married Dale Eugene Barlow on May 29, 1934, in Clear Lake. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1994.

A graduate of Swaledale High School, class of 1932, Doris attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she studied Rural School Methods and Management. She lived in Mt. Vernon Township from 1934-1970, when she and Dale decided to move to Clear Lake. She was a teacher for five years and retired in 1991 after 30 years as breakfast cook.

Doris was a member of Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle, and was a Sing and Sew Club founding member. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and baking.

Doris is survived by four children, Don Barlow, of Paris, Tex., Irv (Jane) Barlow, of White Oak, Tex., Larry (Linda) Barlow, of Clear Lake, and Denny (Nancy Bowers) Barlow, of Helios, Tex.; 14 grandchildren, Donna (Mike) Craig, Gwen Schumaker, Richard (YongSuk) Barlow, James (Becky) Barlow, Jud (Shonna) Barlow, Kim (Darin) Berger, Greg (Faith) Barlow, John (Cherri) Barlow, Teresa (Ernie) Klein, Joe (Becky) Barlow, Sheila (Kirk) Groeneweg, James (Jennifer) Barlow, Emily Barlow, and Pam (Mark) Amayo; 28 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Raymond; two daughters-in-law, Sharon and Helen Barlow; a grandson, James Keith; a great-great-grandson, Owen Klein; four brothers, Everett, Herb, Walt, and Art; a sister in infancy, Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangement.
