FORMER RESIDENT DIED IN MINNEAPOLIS.

CLEAR LAKE – Graveside services for Gilbert McGrady, who died in Minneapolis Nov. 13, 1947, following several years of failing health, were held at the James McGrady lot in Clear Lake cemetery Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Warner M. Hubbard, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Billman funeral home, Minneapolis, was in charge.

Pallbearers were a son-in-law, Milo Hiller; Mrs. McGrady’s brother, Charles Eye, Hampton; three nephews, Ralph Scholl, Rockwell; Ernest Lewis and Berner Lewis, Klemme, and a cousin, Ralph McGrady.

Funeral services were held Nov. 17, 1947, at the Billman funeral chapel, Minneapolis, after which the casket was placed in a vault until burial at Clear Lake. The Rev. Mr. Buckley, pastor of the Columbia Heights Methodist church, Minneapolis, conducted the rites.

Gilbert McGrady, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McGrady, was born near Clear Lake Feb. 14, 1874. He was married Aug. 29, 1898, to Adeline Eye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eye, Swaledale. They resided near here until 1900 when they moved to Tyndale, S. Dak., thence to North Dakota and to Minneapolis in 1913 where Mr. McGrady was a building contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Mr. McGrady is survived by his wife, a son, Darcy, and daughter, Mrs. Milo Hiller, all of Minneapolis.

Near relatives who attended the services were his wife, Mrs. Adeline McGrady; his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Darcy McGrady; his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Hiller, and friends, Mmes. Edward Barker, Nellie Fatchett and John Cogswell, all of Minneapolis. Cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from Clear Lake also attended the services.

Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Kremer entertained Mrs. Adeline McGrady, Mr. and Mrs. Darcy McGrady, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Hiller, Mrs. Edward Baker and Miss Florence McGrady at their home for lunch following the services, after which the Minneapolis relatives and Mrs. Barker left for Rockwell where they stayed until Sunday with Mrs. McGrady’s sister, Mrs. Nick Scholl.

Transcriber’s Note – Gilbert McGrady died November 13, 1947 but was not buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery until May 24, 1948.
