RAY H. NICHOLS DIES AT HOME

CLEAR LAKE – Ray H. Nichols, 73, died at his home, 1703 N. Shore Drive, Saturday morning following a lingering illness.

Surviving him are his wife Mary; and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nichols, granddaughter, Mary Kay Nichols, Waterloo; and a sister, Mrs. L.C. Dibble, Danville, Va.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Ward’s Funeral Home with Dr. E.W. Day, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Ray H. Nichols was born Dec. 25, 1882, at Quincy, Mich. His mother died when he was nine years old and he was reared by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Clisbee, in Chicago.

When he was 16 he joined his father, the late J.D. Nichols, in Minneapolis. They were associated together in the E.P. Stacy & Sons Fruit Co. in Minneapolis and later in Mason City, disposing of the interest in 1932.

In 1935 he was married to Mary Monaghen Moore and together they owned and operated the Nichols Apparel Shop until Dec. 1, 1951, when they retired.

He was a member of the Congregational Church, Mason City.
