RUDOLPH HANSEN

Rudolph (Rudy) C. Hansen, 88, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1992, at North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 1992, at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation began after 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials be made to the Rudy C. Hansen Memorial Fund.

He was born Oct. 30, 1903, in Emmelsbuell, Germany, the son of Christian and Hanne Mitilda (Jensen) Hansen. He attended school in Germany and was an apprentice cabinet maker. On Sept. 25, 1926, he married Frieda Jens in Nuefeld, Germany. The couple moved to the United States in November 1926 as their honeymoon. They resided in Manly and Mason City, Iowa. He was employed at Mason City Millwork in cabinet making from 1927 to 1940. The couple moved to Clear Lake and started the Clear Lake Millworks. They operated the business until 1967.

He loved to fish in Clear Lake and enjoyed his grandchildren and family.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and belonged to the Clear Lake Lions for many years.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Erika Stidham, of Pico Rivera, Calif., Mrs. Elke Saavedra, South Gate, Calif., and Mrs. John (Edith) Nichols, Clear Lake; eight grandchildren, Laurie Craven, Grimes, Iowa, Steven Ashland, Wayne Andersen and Michael Nichols, all of Clear Lake, Kathryn Nichols-Metzger, Anderson, Ind., Deborah Nichols-Dillavou, Mesa, Ariz., Linda Nichols, Minneapolis, Minn., and Sandra Nichols-Lee, Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Brodersen, Kiel Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1984, a daughter Ruby Ann Hansen, two brothers, Jens and Martin Hansen, and two sisters, Julianna Ipsen and Marie Christiansen.

Pallbearers were Marvin Byington, Steven Ashland, Patrick Craven, Aaron Renshaw, Mike Nichols and Westly Bahnsen.

Honorary pallbearers were Reinhardt Andersen, Cletus Melcher, Harold Jorgenrud and Jack Easton.
