Anton Rossum was born July 24, 1886 at Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Torger Larssen Rossum and Martha Ivarsdatter Aschens, the fourth of their five children.

Found in the 1900 & 1910 censuses living on a farm in Rock, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Torger Rossum 60, Martha Rossum 53, Iver Rossum 21, Lise Rossum 19, Berte M Rossum 16, Anton Rossum 13, Tillie Rossum 11, Borger Rossum 57.

1910: Torger Rassum 69, Martha Rassum 63, Lise Rassum 29, Anton Rassum 23, Tella Rassum 21, Borgeir Rassum 67.

Anton married Lu Ella Theresa Motland (b February 14, 1896 to Lars Ingemundson Motland (b 1851, d 1922) and Talette Toresdatter Byrkjedal (b 1859, d 1926), d October 12, 1997) on June 17, 1915 at the bride's parents' home, five miles east of Plymouth, Iowa.

Newspaper article of marriage: At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Motland, five miles east of Plymouth, occurred the marriage of their daughter Ella, to Mr. Anton Rossum, of Mitchell County, June 17th, at high noon, the Rev. Stenby of Clear Lake, Iowa officiating. The bride was becomingly gowned in white messaline and carried a bouquet of white roses. Miss Sarah Motland, sister of the bride, and Miss Sarah Motland, cousin of the bride, were bride’s maids. The sister was becomingly attired in light blue silk, while the cousin was handsomely gowned in white silk, and Ed Motland and Martin Hilden acted as best men. Miss Gertie Maakestad played the wedding march and the bridal group marched to the bridal bower, which was decorated with cut flowers and smilax. After the ceremony, the guests, numbering over 300 were ushered to the dining room and also on to the lawn where the tables were set with a bountiful and delicious wedding dinner, served by the young ladies and Miss Lizzie Rossum, a sister of the groom, and also the sisters of the bride. The bride and groom were the recipients of many beautiful and costly gifts from their many friends. The guests from a distance were Mr. Mrs. Norland, of Redville N.D. The groom is an enterprising young farmer of Mitchell County and has a large circle of acquaintances and numerous friends. The bride is also a popular and esteemed young lady, and the best wishes of their friends go with them.

The couple had 3 sons:
Althon,
Gordon Dean and
Royce.

Found in the 1915 & 1920 censuses living on a farm at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa:
1915: Anton Rossum age 29.

1920: Anton Rossum 32, Luella Rossum 23, Alton Rossum 6 mos.

Found in the 1930 - 1940 censuses living in a rented house at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa:
1930: Anton Rossum 43, Luella Rossum 34, Althon Rossum 10, Gordon Rossum 7, Roice Rossum 4.

1940: Anton Rossum 53, Luella Rossum 43, Althon Rossum 20, Gordon Rossum 17, Royce Rossum 14. He was working as a gate maker.

Found in the all the 1940's & 1950's Mason City, Iowa City Directories.

Anton Rossum died July 29, 1974 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa. He was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.
