PATRICIA “PAT” J. KASTER

VENTURA – Patricia “Pat” J. Kaster44, of Ventura, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1986) at home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Free Church, Highway 18 West, Clear Lake.

The Rev. Kent E. Wagner, pastor, and the Rev. David L. Toyne of Agape Christian Temple, Clear Lake, will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

She was born Dec. 18, 1942, in Mason City to Harold and Lois (Dawson) Kaster.

On Nov. 27, 1980, she married John D. Collins in Garner.

She attended Ventura High School, graduating in 1961. She was a member of the 1961state championship basketball team.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Youngstown (Ohio) University.

For two years she taught physical education and coached at Iroquois High School in Erie, Pa.

She then returned to Ventura where she taught human physiology and physical education for 10 years. She also coached girl’s tennis, golf and basketball. While teaching, she earned her master’s degree at Mankato (Minn.) State University.

She built the Muskie Lounge and was owner and operator of it.

In 1984, she was recognized by the Des Moines Register’s Chuck Offenburger as making the best cinnamon rolls in Iowa.

She attended Evangelical Free Church and also the Agape Christian Temple. She also was a member of the Iowa restaurant Association.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lois Kaster, Ventura; her husband, John Collins, Clear Lake; two stepdaughters, Misty Collins, Rochester, and Shelly Collins, Clear Lake, and a stepson, Troy Collins, Warner Robbins, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her father and an uncle.
