MRS. JOHN PALMETER DIES; RITES PLANNED WEDNESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. John F. Palmeter, 91, 308 3rd Ave. N., died in a Mason City hospital Monday. She had been in failing health several years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Krebs of the Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Tuesday to time of service.

Minerva Tyler Palmeter was born Dec. 2, 1875, in Chautauqua County, N.Y., daughter of Alton and Eva (Steward) Tyler. She received her education in the east and taught school in Lakewood, N.Y.

She came to Clear Lake in 1900 and taught in Clear Lake schools two years. She was married to John F. Palmeter of Clear Lake Sept. 3, 1902, at Chautauqua, N.Y., and they returned to Clear Lake to make their home. He was with the Palmeter Bros. Hardware.

They lived in Spokane, Wash., from 1905 until 1911. Then Mr. Palmeter was in the real estate and insurance business in Clear Lake until his death in 1964.

Survivors include two sons, Frederic and John F. Jr (Jack), both of Clear Lake, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and one son.

She was a member of the Congregational Church, Crescent Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and Civic League.

Transcriber’s Note – Minerva Palmeter was born December 2, 1875, died 1966 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section A Row 11.
