Mrs. August Ruther rites are Thursday

Mrs. August H (Johanna Siewertsen) Ruther, 86, 302 2nd SE died Monday night at a Mason City hospital. funereal services are tentatively scheduled 1 pm Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 pm Wednesday until noon Thursday at the Major Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Ruther was born March 30 1885 in Tonning, Germany where she grew up. She came to this country in 1906.

She was married to Julius Siewertsen, Feb. 13, 1907. They lived on a farm near Rock Falls. . After Mr. Siewertsen’s death in 1930, she remained on the farm. She moved to Mason City in 1943.

In 1954 she was married to August Ruther at Mason city and they made their home at 320 S Tennessee.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran church and of he LUGA Club.

She is survived by six sons Herbert Siewertsen, Galt, Calif., Wilbert Siewertsen, Mount Clemens, Mich., Paul Siewertsen, Grand Rapids, Mich., Julius Siewertsen, Spring Lake Mich., Erwin Siewertsen, Floyd, Robert Siewertsen, Mason city, two daughters, Mrs. Leona Martin, Dearborn, Mich., Mrs. Loyd (Irma) Honeycutt, Shafter, Calif. two stepchildren, Walter Ruther, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Herbert (Alma) Hulse, Old Greenwich, Conn., one sister , Mrs. August (Frieda) Paulsen, Rockford, one brother William Witt, Nora Springs, three sisters and one brother in Germany, 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by August Ruther in 1963 and one daughter in 1908.

The family request that memorials be given to St. James Lutheran Church.
