GLENN SEVERSON, EXCAVATING CONTRACTOR, DIES AT 46

CLEAR LAKE – Glenn Severson, 46, owner of the Severson Excavating Co., died early Tuesday morning at a Mason City hospital following an illness of four weeks. He had entered the hospital Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Samuel Walberg, pastor of the Evangelical Free Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. The Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The family requested that any memorial be given to the Evangelical Free Church.

Glenn Laverne Severson was born Nov. 2, 1915, at Clear Lake, the son of Samuel and Winnie (Ebaugh) Severson. He attended the Fertile schools. April 28, 1933, he was married to Ann Marie Lien at Forest City.

He started a trucking business at Clear Lake, later added more trucks and heavy equipment, building it into one of the largest excavating companies in Iowa. His firm did excavating for homes, streets, schools and commercial buildings.

Survivors include his parents, his wife, one son, Luverne, Clear Lake, a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Sandra) Aceto, at home while her husband is stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Cora) Ouverson, Fertile, and Mrs. Horace (Goldie) Kirk and Mrs. LeRoy (Nelda) Halverson, both of Clear Lake.
