FUNERAL SERVICES FOR LONG TIME RESIDENT CONDUCTED AT DAUGHTER’S HOME

CLEAR LAKE, Sept. 10 -- Last rites for Joseph H. Dawson, 72 years old, who died early Sunday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Carter, northeast of Clear Lake, following a lingering illness, were held at the rural home this afternoon with the Rev. J.R. Tumbleson in charge. Mr. Dawson, who resided in a cottage near Bayside park for many years, had been in failing health for several months, but had only been confined to his bed two weeks.

J. H. Dawson was born near Racine, Wis., April 26, 1857. He moved with his parents to a farm three miles north of Clear Lake Oct. 22, 1870. Ten years later he was married to Miss Ida Hammond, who died in 1913.

Those who survive are his foster daughter, Mrs. Floyd Carter; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Miller of Clear Lake and Mrs. Amelia Chatburn of Orland, Cal.; and four brothers, L. B. Dawson of Mercedes, Cal., Chester Dawson of Lisbon, N. Dak., Fred and Jim Dawson of Clear Lake.

Burial was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
