JAMES S. ANDERSON

James S. Anderson was born Oct. 28, 1909, in Mt. Vernon Township, Cerro Gordo County. He was the son of James S. and Edith Pierce Anderson. He attended Clear Lake schools graduating in 1929 with numerous awards for sports activities. He graduated from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Jim married Helen Margaret Merwin Nov. 29, 1942. He served in the Army during World War II seeing action in Africa and Italy. He had a daughter Sally in 1946 and a son Donald in 1948. A lifelong resident of the Clear Lake area, he was a route manager for the Des Moines Register and Tribune and then a realtor until his retirement. He died at the Veterans Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1984.

Jim was a charter member of the Clear Lake Christian Church where he was chairman of the board and a board and a board member for many years. He was a strong supporter of Clear Lake athletic programs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Abe and Neal, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Enabnit and Mrs. Gladys Nealis. He is survived by his wife, Helen, his son Donald J. Anderson of Belle Plaine, Iowa, his daughter, Sally A. Anderson of Cedar Falls, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Clear Lake Christian Church on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m.
