RAY SANDRY, 77, REALTOR, DIES AT LAKE

CLEAR LAKE – Ray Sandry, 77, 115 N. 10th St., died early Tuesday morning at a Mason City hospital after a long illness. He was taken to the hospital Monday after suffering another stroke.

Mr. Sandry had been in the real estate business in Clear Lake since the early 1900’s, continuing until two years ago when he was forced to give up his work because of illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Krebs, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Alfred Raymond Sandry was born July 26, 1881, on a farm south of Clear Lake, the son of Alfred and Betsy Jane Sandry. He attended rural school and was graduated from the Clear Lake High School in 1900.

In 1903 he was married to Gertie Sparks of Clear Lake. They farmed for a few years in North Dakota and then returned to Clear Lake where he went into the real estate business. Later he was a partner of the late D. E. Kenyon. His first wife died in 1947.

On Dec. 26, 1948, he was married to Winnie Stork Gronquist, a former Clear Lake resident, who returned to Clear Lake to make her home.

Surviving him are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Winifred) Biddinger, Berwyn, Ill.; Mrs. John (Eloise) Hanke, Chicago, and Mrs. Gene (Corinne) Ludwig, Belvidere, Ill., and seven grandchildren.

The family asked that any memorials be given to the building fund of the Congregational Church of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years.
