OBITUARY - JOHN M. BURRITT

John M. Burritt was born in New York City June 21, 1837 and moved to Stoughton, Wis., where in 1867 he married Miss Kate M. Morrison. In 1876 they moved to a farm near Clear Lake where they resided at the time of his death May 9, 1899. He leaves a widow to mourn his sudden death. The funeral was held at the home where a large concourse of friends and neighbors assembled to pay the last sad rites to the deceased. Services were conducted by Rev. R. R. Wood.

In the death of Mr. Burritt we have lost a neighbor who was kind and accommodating, a friend who was loyal, sincere and true, a citizen who was honored and respected. He has gone, but his pleasant smile, cheerful words, and kind acts, will keep his memory green in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.

The death of John M. Burritt of Grant township Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock came as a great surprise to nearly all who knew him. His last illness was only of a few days duration and there were no dangerous symptoms developed till the night before his death which was due to obstruction of the bowels. Mr. Burritt was 62 years old and a resident of the county for many years. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock.
