RICHARD R. SCOTT

Richard R. Scott, 68, of Route 1, Oakwood Park, Clear Lake, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 1984 at home. Born March 2, 1916 at Algona, Iowa, he was the son of John and Blanche (Hastings) Scott. He married Maida Morrison on Oct. 24, 1979, in Clear Lake.

Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Father James Duster will officiate.

Born in Algona, he attended school in Spencer. He worked for AMP as a meat manager and lived in Mashalltown, Des Moines and Newton. In the late 30’s he moved to Mason City and lived there until 1955. He married Virginia Laughlin on Aug. 5, 1939. He moved to Clear Lake in 1955 and was the manager of Bowens and Easters Super Valu store here. He retired in 1974. He then entered the real estate and insurance business with Lake Realty and with Century 21 and retired in 1980.

Mr. Scott was a past president of Noon Lions Club, and past president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and a former member of Elks & Moose Lodges of Mason City, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Maida, three sons, R. Richard Scott of Lake Park, Iowa, Patrick Scott of Des Moines, and J. Joe Scott of Clear Lake; one sister, Mrs. Shirley Loynachan, Knoxville, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, his first wife Virginia, and his step-father, Carl Franks.

Marie Faber and the church funeral choir provided music at the service. Active pallbearers were Wayne Wilcox, Wendell Wilcox, Robert Colburn, John Anderson, John Amos, and Lester Wenzel. Honorary pallbearers were Crosby Ingersoll, Pat Stork, Gerald Jensen, Edwin Tennyson, Al Tapps, Nibbs Nesbit, and Dr. Ralph Winkle.
