CHARLEY SCHMOLL KILLED BY BULL IN CATTLE YARD

Funeral services for Charley Schmoll, 76, Route 2, who was killed by a bull Monday in the cattle yard of his home, northeast of Clear Lake, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. E. G. Ulland, pastor of the Lake Mills Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Dr. J. E. Christopherson, county medical examiner, attributed death to a crushed chest and other injuries. Mr. Schmoll was found by his son, Wilbur, as he came in from the field. There was evidence of a struggle along one side of the barn and along a board fence for a distance of 25 feet.

Mr. Schmoll came to Clear Lake in 1908 and worked three years on the Frank Tesene farm and later for William Knaack. He was married to Frances Knaack March 26, 1918, at Mason City. They farmed near Clausen’s Cove several years and in 1923 moved to their present farm. He was a director of the Cerro Gordo Mutual Insurance Co. for 24 years.

Survivors include his sons, Merlyn, Lake Mills, and Wilbur at home, and two grandsons, Jack and Henry. He was preceded in death by his wife in March 1957, five brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Al K. Carstens, Floyd Hockaday, George Lee, Gus Heinrich, Fred Linahon, Walter Bisgrove, B. O. Christiance and Lloyd Stevens.
