ANDREA PETERSEN

Andrea Petersen, 97, of Clear Lake, died May 25, in a Mason City hospital.

She was born in 1884 in Skelund, Denmark, and came to the United States in 1908. She lived in Kansas a short time before moving to Clear Lake.

She married R. Anton Petersen in 1914 in Clear Lake.

Mrs. Petersen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, and the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include her daughter, Lillian (Mrs. Ralph) Hake, Arcadia, Calif. and Marion (Mrs. Gerhart) Birkestrond of Des Moines; one son, C.R. (Bob) Petersen of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Kristine and Marie Allen; her husband, Anton, in 1980; and brothers and sisters.

Services for Mrs. Petersen were held Saturday, May 29 at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Keith Tomlinson officiating. Organist Louise Folkmann played “Beautiful Savior” for the processional and “Jesus Savior Pilot Me” for the recessional. Soloist Scott Sadler sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”

Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Edwin Estergaard, Warren Jensen, Robert Colburn, Carl Nielsen, Lloyd Kennedy and Glenn Westover.
