CARL HANNA, 26, KILLED IN MISHAP AT FARM HOME
SERVICE PLANNED THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT M.E. CHURCH

Carl Hanna, 26, son of Mrs. R. M. Hanna, north of Clear Lake, was killed in an accident at his farm Monday evening at 7 o’clock. He was under his car repairing the brakes when the jack supporting the car slipped and the car fell on him, crushing his chest.

His brother, Harold, was assisting him for a time, but had left a few minutes to do some chores. When he returned he found his brother dead and pinned below the car. They went for the neighbor and he assisted in lifting the car off of him.

Carl was born Aug. 13, 1917 at Clear Lake and has lived here all his life, attending the Clear Lake high school. He had been operating the farm north of town for several years since his father died in March 1942, and assisting him had been his younger brother, Harold.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church here with Ward Funeral directors in charge. If word is received from the brother in the navy the funeral may be postponed.

Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Hanna, two brothers, Harold at home and Robert, seaman 1-c in the U.S. Navy now at sea, and two sisters, Mrs. Harley Van Horne and Mrs. James Conner of Clear Lake.

Transcriber’s Note – Carl Hanna was born August 13, 1917, died 1943 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 5.
