MRS. HUBERT A. JACKSON IS FOUND DEAD SATURDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Hubert A. (Audra Paugh) Jackson, 50, was found dead in her bed at the Jackson Nursing home, 524 N.W. Center street Saturday morning. Cause of death is being investigated.

Mrs. Jackson attended church services Friday evening, it was stated, and had been up attending a patient about 3 o’clock Saturday morning. When the family arose she was dead.

Audra Lulu Starns was born Nov. 3, 1899, at Topeka, Kans., and had lived in Mason City and Clear Lake several years, operating nursing homes in both towns. She had opened the Jackson Nursing home only Jan. 2 of this year.

She took over the Bethany nursing home in Clear Lake in 1945, and in February, 1947, opened the Audra L. Jackson Nursing Home in Mason City, operating both places for a time. Last fall she purchased the property at 524 N.W. Center street and opened that home Jan. 3. She was married to Mr. Jackson at Clear Lake Nov. 11, 1946.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Benson, nee Virginia Cook, Des Moines, and a brother Russell H. Starns, Kansas City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at Ward’s. Mrs. Benson was expected to arrive Saturday afternoon from Des Moines.
