HOLD RITES FOR MRS. D. JOHNSON HILLS, 75; BURIAL AT CLEAR LAKE
CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. D. Johnson Hills, 75, who died at her home, 207 Grant street, Thursday evening after an illness of several weeks, were held at Williams’ funeral home Saturday morning. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery.
Pallbearers were T. E. Sondrol, Sr., Kenneth Cobb, John England, R. C. Taylor, A. N. Michaels and Perry Bailey. Mrs. R. A. Monaghen, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Harry Mason, sang “Where the Roses Never Fade.”
Isabel H. Ward was born at Clear Lake Dec. 18, 1865, one of 10 children of Samuel H. and Caroline Ward. March 12, 1895, she was married to Mr. Hills.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Hills is survived by one sister, Miss Nettie Ward, Long Beach, Cal., and two nieces, Miss Thora Collier, Waterloo, and Mrs. C. C. Searles, Postville. Both nieces will attend the funeral.
Mrs. Hills was a member of the Methodist church.
