Phyllis L. Stifel, 91, died on February 26, 2013. Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12 p.m. Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery.

Phyllis was born on October 29, 1921 to Amil and Alta Herker. She graduated from Lincoln High School in January of 1940. She retired from R&R Welding. Phyllis was a past Worthy Matron of Valley Junction Order of Eastern Star and was a long time member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Perbera of West Des Moines, IA; sons, Thomas (Vicki) Rush and Mark (Liz) Rush both of Des Moines, IA; daughter-in-law, Toni Rush of Norwalk, IA; brother, Amil Herker of Clear Lake, IA; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; her sister, Virginia Lash of Colorado; an infant brother, James Herker; and her son, Michael Rush.
