BARKHURST BURIED IN CLEAR LAKE CEMETERY

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Grant A Barkhurst, 57, who died at his home, 615 S. 3rd, Monday morning, were held at Ward’s funeral home Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Warner M. Hubbard, pastor of the First Methodist Church, conducting the rites. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

The color guard and firing squad from the Stafford Post No. 222, American Legion, which took charge at the cemetery included L.E. Ashland, J.H. Perkins, Lester Heitland, Gilbert Jensen, Robert Buck, Bynum Jacobsen, Alvin Nelson and Tom Nelson, Jr., with S.S. Hudson, Jr., in charge. Donald Petersen sounded taps.

Pallbearers were Dale Mabb, William Schoeneman, Peter Wonsmos, Hans Bartleson, Melvin Ingrebretson and Emil Jensen, all of Thornton. Mrs. Elmer Christenson, Thornton, arranged the flowers.

Mrs. L.E. Jacobson, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Harry Mason, Sang “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” and “Near to the Heart of God.”

Relatives from a distance present were a son, Virgil, San Bruno, Cal.; Mrs. Edna Frazer, Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. James Polstofer and Mrs. Roger Campbell, Rockwell; Mr. and Mrs. Art Harris, Latimer, and Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jorgensen, Swaledale. Many friends came from Thornton.
