W. E. Petty dies at 76 in hospital

William E. Petty, 76, resident of the IOOF Home, died Sunday evening at a Mason City hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Major-Erickson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Petty was born March 5, 1885, at Dennison, son of W. H. and Sarah (Hoyt) Petty. He made his home at Guthrie Center and was initiated into Guthrie Center Lodge 113, March 10, 1953. He moved to the IOOF Home July 27, 1961.

He was married to Elizabeth Bartlett May 9, 1919, at Vail.

Surviving are two sons, Merle Petty, Newell, and Orville Petty, Guthrie Center; three daughters, Ruth Waterman, Newell; Mrs. Ernest (Glennie) Reading, Newell; and Florence Ros, Pomery; and a sister, Mrs. Harry Wood, Odebolt.

[Interment was made at IOOF Memorial Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.]
