S. Polacek, 74, Dies in Iowa City

Samuel Polacek, 74, retired professional sausage maker, 649 Polk S. W., died late Friday evening at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He had lived in Mason City 39 years.

Mr. Polacek was born September 20, 1883, in Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States when he was 17 and settled in Chicago. He moved to Mason City in 1918 and had lived here since that time. He was married to Elizabeth Skarita in 1919 in Mason City, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; son, Albert Polacek, Mason City; two step sons, Sam Vician, Austin, Minn., and Steve Vician, Mason City; three stepdaughters, Mrs. C. N. (Elizabeth) Anderson, Mrs. Clarence (Julia) Wasicek, and Mrs. John (Mildred) Stamon, all of Mason City. He was preceded in death by a son, John Vician, World War II casualty, and a daughter, Ann.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Colonial Funeral Home from Monday morning until the time of services.

Death Notices

POLACEK, Samuel, 74, retired professional sausage maker, 649 Polk S.W., died Friday evening at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Lawrence Holst will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Colonial Funeral Home is in charge.
