Alena Fisher, 70, succumbs

Alena Fisher, 79, widow of William D. Fisher, died early Sunday morning at a Mason City hospital, following a long illness. She had lived in the Mason City area 57 years.

Mrs. Fisher was born Aug. 5, 1880, in Germany, daughter of Henry and Augusta (Hanneman) Schultz. She attended schools in Germany and came to the United States with her parents. They settled near Rockford.

She was married to William C. Fisher, July 4, 1898, at Spirit Lake. They made their first home at Terril and in 1903 moved to the Mason City area. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three sons, Alfred H., Ervin L, and B. C. Fisher, all of Mason City; three daughters, Miss Esther A. Fisher, Nora Springs; Violet Kuhlemeier, Rockford; and Mrs. Dallas (Velma) Van Horn, Mason City; 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a brother, Mox (Max?) Schultz, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dec. 4, 1945, and by a son, William, two daughters, Dolly and Daisey, three brothers and a sister.

[Interment was made in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa.]
