George F. Gerdes Service Set for Tuesday

George F. Gerdes, 77, 211 2nd S. W., died Friday evening in a hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Major Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Carl J. Sentman, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Gerdes was born Oct. 26, 1878 in Clayton County. He had been a carpenter until his retirement.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Nagel, Austin, Minn.; Clara Gorham, Mason City; Ann Stepleton, Ventura; and Miss Eleanore Gerdes, Chicago; four sons, William, Sheffield; Alvin, Manly; Robert, Ventura; and Donald, Mason City; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Three sisters, Mrs. Henry Oetkon, Rockwell; Mrs. George Stover and Miss Lena Gerdes, Aurora, Ill.; and two brothers, Oswald Gerdes, Mason City, and Paul Gerdes, Aurora, also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters.
