D. Edward O'Donnell dies at 69

D. Edward O'Donnell, 69, farmer on Route 2, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at his farm home. He was a lifelong resident of Cerro Gordo County.

Mr. O'Donnell was born July 13, 1892, in Falls Township, son of Dennis and Elizabeth (Chute) O'Donnell. He attended school in Falls Township and was married to Josephine Fitzgerald, Jan. 26, 1916, in Mason City.

He was a member of the AAA committee from the late 1930s to 1942. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1006, Mason City, and also a member of the Holy Name Society and the Rock Falls Birthday Club.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Edward F., rural Mason City; four grandchildren and two sisters, Loretta Cross and Mrs. Al (Vera) Gerard, both of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Soleumn requiem high Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph's Cemetery.

A Rosary was scheduled at 8 p.m. Monday, the parish Rosary at 8 p.m. Tuesday and the K.C. Council Rosary at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel.
