DEATH OF OLD TIME RESIDENT REPORTED
MRS. O. L. BURDICK, FORMERLY OF THIS CITY PASSED AWAY AT HOME OF SON IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. O. L. Burdick, 75, a former resident of Clear Lake, but for the past number of years a resident of Los Angeles, passed away at the home of her son, Elmer, in California, on the night of Sunday, July 27, after a short illness, according to word received here this week.

Mrs. Burdick, a most highly respected lady, who was held in the highest esteem by all those who knew her, came to Clear Lake from Floyd, Iowa, in 1869, making the trip overland.

She remained a resident of this city until a few years ago, when, after making a number of trips back and forth from Iowa to California, she decided to make her home with her son, Elmer, at Los Angeles.

Mrs. Burdick was born at Waukegan, Ill., June 16, 1844, and died on July 27, 1918, being 75 years, one month and eleven days of age at the time of her death.

In 1857, she accompanied her parents to Floyd, Iowa, and six years later she was married to O. L. Burdick at McGregor. They made their home at Floyd until 1869 when they moved to Clear Lake.

To this union three children were born, Elmer, Clara and Claire, the latter dying two years ago. Besides her son she leaves a brother and sister; A. J. Rice and Mrs. James Kearn , of Clear Lake; Mrs. John Ferris, of Smith Center, Kansas, Mrs. Lottie Bingham, of Blue Mont, Kansas and Bessie Coughman of Canada.

It is expected that Mrs. Burdick’s body will be returned to Clear Lake for burial and it is expected it will arrive here on, or about Friday of this week.
