ARVIN BUNTING

Arvin A. Bunting, 86, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, March 16, 1995, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center’s east campus, Mason City.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 20, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

Arvin was born March 19, 1909 in Corwith, Iowa, the son of Ira and Laura (Dumfee) Bunting. He attended school in London, Minn., and farmed with his parents in the Britt and Corwith areas.

He moved to Clear Lake in 1946. For the past 50 years he was well known as an outboard motor mechanic in the Clear Lake area. He was active in his trade until the time of his death.

On Dec. 22, 1949, he married Alta Shaffer, in Kirksville, Mo.

His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping and reading. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alta Bunting, Clear Lake; two daughters, Ruth A. Young and her husband, Brian, Plainview, Minn., and Joann K. Davey and her husband, Ralph, Manly; three step-sons, Dean D. Davis and his wife, Carlene, Mason City, Duane L. Davis and wife, Diane, Clear Lake, and Dennis J. Davis of Clear Lake; a brother, Galen Bunting, Mason City; six grandchildren, Renee Davey, Alex Davey, Brian Young, Brent Young, Brenda Young, Aaron Young, six step-grandchildren, Michelle Christensen, Jeffrey Davis, Christine Marchesano, Clayton Davis, Mark Davis and Jason Davis; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Organist Pat Treloar accompanied soloist Larry Shaffer.

Pallbearers were Jason Davis, Jeff Davis, Clayton Davis, Brent Young, Duane Davis and Brian Young.
