ALFRED D. BROWN

Alfred D. Brown, 81, 1001 3rd NW, Mason City, died Dec. 9 in a Mason City nursing home.

He was born April 22, 1898 in Thornton and attended school in Thornton and Clear Lake. He came to Mason City in 1918 where he worked at Woodruff shoe store until 1928. Mr. Brown was married to Williametta J. Williams Sept. 13, 1922 in West Bend. He had operated the Nichols and Green shoe store from 1934 until retiring in 1961. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mason City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11, 1979 in the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Larry Vallery, assistant pastor at the First United Methodist Church, Mason City, officiated.

Brown is survived by his wife, Williametta, two brothers, Matthew Brown, Armstrong and Lawrence Brown, Clear Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Stoks, Marshalltown, and Mrs. Olga Nielsen, Albert Lea, Minn. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Pat Treloar was the organist and Betty Becker the soloist. Pallbearers were Gary Peter, Merle Brown, Gerald Chute, Merlyn Reagan, John Anderegg and Edwin H. Thiemann.

Memorials should be given to the Alfred D. Brown Memorial Fund.
