LONA BROSE RITES HELD SATURDAY AT FUNERAL HOME
Funeral services for Lona M. Brose, 82, 14 S. Shore Dr., were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Krebs of the Congregational Church officiating. Mrs. Brose died at a Mason City hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Holmes Pedelty was organist. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Beatrice Fell and Mrs. Derreld Petersen.
Pallbearers were Elmer Moffett, Edgar M. Duesenberg, Jack Enabnit, Arthur Roberts, DuWayne Jensen, and Louis Crist. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Lona M. Brose was born April 4, 1882 in Wisconsin, the daughter of Ambrose and Etta Sherman. She attended area schools.
In 1903 she was married to Frank Brose and they lived in Mason City several years during his work as engineer on the Milwaukee Road.
Mrs. Brose was manager of a millinery store in Charles City and of the millinery department of a large store in Kansas City. She was also employed in Rock Island, Ill., for a time before returning to the Mason City-Clear Lake area where she was employed by the Hughes Dress Shop, Mason City, and Koeneman’s Millinery and Beauty Shop, Clear Lake.
She was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps, Daughters of Union Veterans and the Christian Church.
Her only survivor is a granddaughter, Brenda Brose, daughter of the late Sherman Brose, a Mason City attorney, who died in 1918. Miss Brose is a student at Northwestern Medical School, Chicago.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Sherman.
