AGED RESIDENT DIES OF INJURIES
CARL F. BROSE, 84, SUCCUMBS FOLLOWING FALL AT HOMECLEAR LAKE – Carl F. Brose, 84, who suffered a broken hip in a fall at his home Wednesday died at 12:30 o’clock Tuesday morning at a Mason City hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Mr. Brose was born at Preszlau, Germany, Sept. 15, 1855, and came to America in 1867, settling at Hericon, Wis. He came to Iowa in 1876. April 10, 1881, he was married to Miss Mary Helen Haddow and to them eight children, all of whom survive, were born.
Mr. Brose united with the Methodist church at Sheffield in 1890 and later transferred his membership to the Clear Lake church. During his active years he was a farmer in the vicinity of Clear Lake. For several years the family resided at Cedar Falls and 22 years ago moved to the present home at 218 Jefferson street.
Besides his widow and children Mr. Brose is survived by one brother, J.W. Brose, Boise, Idaho, and 13 grandchildren. The children are Frank and Mr. M.S. Rogers, Mason City; Mrs. Edward Chapin and Mrs. John Lewis, Los Angeles, Cal.; Lloyd, Northfield, Minn.; Lyle, Madison, Wis.; George E., 104 West Division street, and Miss Elma, at home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending messages from relatives at Los Angeles. The body was taken to Williams undertaking parlors.
