LERAY ELMER BORRILL

LeRay Elmer (Ray) Borrill, 52, of 710 N. 9th St., Clear Lake, died on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at a Rochester Hospital following an illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 19 at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wayne L. Carlson officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Military Rites by Robert Cash and Raymond “Pete” Cash. Ray Borrill was born June 14, 1925 at Austin, Indiana, the son of George and Verna (Arnold) Borrill. He graduated from the Ventura High School in 1943, then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific.

Borrill was married to Clarice (Bachellor) Borrill on July 27, 1946 at the home of her parents in Clear Lake.

The Borrills lived in Clear Lake and Borrill worked with the Clear Lake Bakery, and later worked with Hoxie Fruit Company and the past several years with Pacific Gamble Robinson, Mason City as a salesman in the northern counties of Iowa.

Surviving are his wife Clarice, one daughter, Mrs. Mark(Nancy) Patro, Clear Lake, two sons, Dennis, Belmond and Gary, at home, his parents, George and Verna Borrill, Garner, two brothers, Harold, Garner, and Kenneth Borrill, Clear Lake; one sister, Mrs. Elton (Barbara) Miller, East Alton, Ill.

Borrill was preceded in death by a son, Larry, who died while serving in the U.S. Navy in 1970.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served as a scout leader of Troop #30.

Mrs. James Reynolds was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kacer presented special music.

Pallbearers, merlin Bachellor, Elton Miller, Stan Bowen, Jerry Hejik, Robert Reynolds and Arlen Pals.

Transcriber’s Note – LeRay Elmer (Ray) Borrill was born June 14, 1925, died November 16, 1977 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section D Row 5.
