MRS. JOHN BOHNING RITES ARE TUESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. John (Edna) Bohning, 86, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church in Clear Lake with the pastor, the Rev. James Kratz, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The Wilcox-Osthus Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Bohning died Friday at a Mason City nursing home where she had been cared for two weeks. She suffered a fractured hip in a fall recently.

Charlotte Edna Fulghum was born in Mason City Jan. 10, 1885, the daughter of T. M. and Mary (Story) Fulghum.

She attended Mason City schools and was graduated from Mason City High School.

On Aug. 29, 1906, she was married to John V. Bohning in Mason City. They moved to Clear Lake and remained here 45 years. Mr. Bohning was manager of the Farmers’ Cooperative Lumber Co. for a number of years. He preceded her in death in 1969. They made their home at 413 S. 8th Street for many years. In 1969 she moved to Mason City and lived at The Manor.

Surviving are one son, Rollin, Lake City, Mich., and two daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Gladys) Jones, Selden, N.Y., and Mrs. A.F. (Gretchen) Burkart, Mason City, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Christian Church, Tina Rebekak Lodge, Library Reading Club, the DUV and CWF.

Pallbearers selected include Michael, John and Terry Burkart, Russel and Willard Fulghum Jr., and Steven True.

Transcriber’s Note – Edna C. Bohning was born January 10, 1885, died November 1971 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 8 Row 3.
