A VICTIM OF TYPHOID

Miss Ella Burkum, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Burkum, passed away at Fowler, Colorado, on August 27th after an illness of only a few weeks with typhoid fever.

Miss Burkum was born at Soldiers Grove, Wis., on January 8, 1882, and came to Clear Lake with her parents about ten years ago. Five years later she went to Colorado to make her home with her sister, Mrs. John C. Hesseldahl, at whose home she died.

She graduated from the high school of Soldiers Grove in 1900 and since that time has been engaged in teaching school. Last year she attended the state normal at Greeley, Colo., and had fitted herself for a continuation of teaching.

Deceased was the youngest daughter of a family of nine children and was the first to pass into the Great Beyond. She leaves to mourn her departure a father and mother, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

The remains were brot to Iowa for interment accompanied by her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Hesseldahl and brother Elmer. Funeral services were held from the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wednesday of last week conducted by Rev. Stenby and Rev. Belsheim. Interment was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
