FORMER NIGHT POLICE DIES AT LAKE HOMECLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Otis T. Wooldridge, 76, who died at his home, North East Street, late Monday evening following an illness of four months will be held at Ward’s funeral home Thursday at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Verne A. Spindell, pastor of the Congregational Church will conduct the rites and burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Mr. Wooldridge was born at Edgewood, Clayton County, Aug. 20, 1866, and came to Clear Lake in 1882 with relatives, driving a team through.
Sept. 30, 1886, he was married to Miss Anna Josephine Nesheim of Clear Lake who died Nov. 19, 1936. To them were born five children. One, Roy Wooldridge died at Algona Sept. 29, 1941.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Downey and Miss Virginia, and two sons, Floyd and Everett, all of Clear Lake.
Also surviving are three grandchildren; Pfc. Robert Wooldridge who is now stationed in Alaska, Mrs. Raymond Crowie, Des Moines and Karen Lee Wooldridge, Algona, and one great grandson, Michael Crowie.
Two brothers, Jesse, who lives in Oregon, and Frank, Edgewood, and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Doud, Quinn, S.D., and Mrs. Ella Brawer, Edgewood also survive. Mrs. Cecil Berry, Waterloo, is a niece.
Two brothers, Willis and John preceded Mr. Wooldridge in death. His mother, Mrs. Mary Wooldridge, died in 1938 at the age of 108.
Mr. Wooldridge had served the city of Clear Lake as night police for 14 years and as councilman two terms. He was a mason by trade. For many years he had been a member of the Modern Woodman of America lodge in Clear Lake.
