MRS. OSTRANDER DIES IN HOSPITAL; 4 SONS SURVIVE

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. O. A. Ostrander, 74, 22 ½ South Shore Drive, died early Friday morning at a Mason City hospital where she had been for 10 days.

Mrs. Ostrander was born Nelle Edith VanDaveer in Illinois, Feb. 6, 1878. She was married to Mr. Ostrander Aug. 24, 1902, at Minot, N.D. They moved to Iowa in 1911, living at Cedar Rapids and Waterloo before coming to Clear Lake in 1925.

Mr. Ostrander died Dec. 27, 1941, and is buried at Clear Lake. Mrs. Ostrander was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry.

Surviving are four sons, David, 1209 South Shore Drive; Harris, 1013 First Ave. S.; Ora, Huron, S.D.; and Bruce, Oklahoma, City, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. J. W. Lee, Muskogee, Okla.; two brothers, Fred VanDaveer, Billings, Mont., and Lloyd VanDaveer, Ennis, Texas., and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Ostrander was a member of the Methodist Church and Amvet Auxiliary.

Funeral arrangements are in complete. The body is at Ward’s Funeral Home.

Transcriber’s Note – Nelle Edith Ostrander was born February 6, 1878, died September 19, 1952 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 9. Headstone notes that she was born 1880 and that her name was Nellie.
