O. A. OSTRANDER DIES SUDDENLY
FUNERAL SERVICESTO BE HELD AT WARD’S ON MONDAY, 2:30 O’CLOCK

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Ora A. Ostrander, 68, who died at a Mason City hospital at 6:15 o’clock Friday morning, will be held at Ward’s Funeral Home at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Mr. Ostrander had been in frail health for a number of years but became seriously ill Christmas day.

Born at Elmira, N.Y., Jan. 9, 1873, Mr. Ostrander moved with his parents to Michigan when a young boy and later to Iowa. He left home at the age of 16 and made his way to the west coast.

Aug. 24, 1902, he was married to Miss Nellie Edith VanDaveer at Minot, N. Dak., where they lived until moving to Iowa in 1910. Mr. Ostrander was in turn associated with the Cedar Rapids Republican and Times, the Waterloo Times Tribune, the Curtis Publishing company and the Mason City Globe-Gazette, retiring from the employ of the latter four years ago because of ill health.

Besides his widow, Mr. Ostrander is survived by four sons, Bruce D. at Muskogee, Okla.; David L. and Harris V. at Corpus Christie, Texas, and Ora, Jr., at home. The sons are expected to arrive Saturday evening.

A sister, Mrs. Etta Hart, Yakima, Mont., and a niece, Mrs. Jack Williams, Arnold’s Park, also survive.

Mr. Ostrander was affiliated with the International Bible Students association and a member of that denomination is expected to conduct the rites.

Transcriber’s Note – Ora A. Ostrander was born January 9, 1873, died December 27, 1940 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 9. The headstone indicates he was born 1874.
