MRS. JAMES PURCELL RITES WEDNESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. James Purcell, 86, a lifelong resident of the Fertile area, died Sunday evening at a Clear Lake nursing home where she had been cared for three weeks.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Fertile Church of Christ. The Rev. Walter Blanchard will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. The Wilcox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Alvira Purcell was born Oct. 2, 1876, on a farm near Fertile, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Yocum) McEnelly. She was married to James Purcell in 1897 in Mason City.

Survivors include two sons, Max and Vern Purcell, both of Fertile; three daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Ila) Beach, Eldora; Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Staggert, Rochester, Minn.; and Mrs. Reuben (Bess) Rodberg, Fertile; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Amy Nye, Fertile.

Mrs. Purcell was preceded in death by her husband in 1943; one grandson and one brother.
