STEVEN RAY PURCELL

MASON CITY – Steven Ray Purcell, 40, of 216 N. Jefferson, died Sunday (April 24, 1994) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 1994, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Kramer of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. There will be a public scripture prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Steven Ray Purcell was born Jan. 1, 1954, in Mason City, the son of Edward and Mary (Gagnon) Purcell. He attended and received his elementary education in the Fertile Grade School system, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1973. After completing his schooling, he helped his parents farm four miles north of Clear Lake. He worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, but due to health reasons he worked there for only a short period of time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, horseback riding and the great outdoors.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, former member of the Elks Club in Mason City, and former member of the Grant-Blue Ribbon Feeders 4-H Club in Clear Lake.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Edward and Mary Purcell of Mason City, two brothers, Wayne Allen Purcell and his wife, Teri, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Donald Duane Purcell and his wife, Lois, of Garner; two sisters, Cynthia Kay Kofron and her husband, Rick, of Forest City, and Jean Marie Purcell of Minneapolis, Minn.; a half-brother, Michael Edward Purcell and his wife, Marti, of Buena Park, Calif.; six nieces and three great-nieces, as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grand parents.
