CLEAR LAKE – T. F. “Ted” Guthrie, 77, of 1104 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake, died Saturday (July 30, 1983) at a Mason City hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. James Duster officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 tonight.

Mr. Guthrie was born Aug. 12, 1905 in Seymour to Robert and Susie (Rockwell) Guthrie. He graduated from Seymour High School and from Des Moines University.

He worked as a salesman for many years for S. E. Massingill Drug Co., and later for Iowa Veterinarian Supply Company, Iowa Falls. Following his retirement, he worked for Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake for 10 years.

He married Mary McNulty on July 7, 1938 in Emmetsburg and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. They moved to Clear Lake from Emmetsburg in 1953.

Mr. Guthrie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he was a former usher, and of the Clear Lake Noon Lions.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, Clear Lake; two daughters, Mrs. David (Mary) Bishop, Minnetonka, Minn., and Mrs. Roger (Ann) Schlader, Hastings, Minn.; a son, Dr. Robert Guthrie, Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Jamison and Mrs. Harold (Velma) Schock, both of Moline, Ill.; a brother, the Rev. Joseph Guthrie, Yorba Linda, Calif., and five grandchildren.
